The Circle is broken. Long have the Druids preserved the balance between the natural world and the supernatural, protecting the denizens of both. Yet Time has grown envious and now the spirits of the dead and damned pour out through the ruined hengestones and across ancient boundaries to once more inhabit the land. The broken Circle of Druids will need to be reformed, the unquiet shades of ancestors appeased, and the balance between time and fate restored before the passing of a hundred solstices, or the magic of the henges will fade forever.

In Shaderest, players will assume the mantle of Druids and form a Circle from the remnants of a once majestic order. They will work together to lay the risen shades of their ancestors and the disturbed spirits of the land to rest, and in the process discover the hidden potential of their true power: compassion, sincerity, and truth.

Druids will age, grow, change, and pass their mantles on to later incarnations and successors, combining and matching game elements to create synergies and playstyles. Coordinating the strengths of Seasons, Disciplines, Blessings, and Relics is the key to building a strong Circle.

During each session of Shaderest, the Circle will confront a Cairn, a select grouping of Shades that must be laid to rest in order to restore balance to the land. If a single Circle can complete five Cairns in a row without breaking, they will restore the shattered balance and win the game!
